Zena Princess Warrior

Juno named our humanitarian award, the Zena Award, in honor of our first grant recipient Zena Johnson. A fierce princess warrior, Zena lost her battle with cancer last year. The first to receive our Zena Award was Sue Hannah. Born in Georgia, Sue moved to the Orlando area in 1958. She worked for a catering company, then spent 12 years traveling with her late partner, Angie Spruill. They ran game booths at carnivals around the country and in Canada.

Grant Committee Update
By Tracy Harris
Grant Committee Chair

Hello fellow goddesses. Greetings from the Juno Grant Committee.

I would like to extend a continued thank you to those of you who continue to help spread the word about how the Juno Foundation helps women in our community.  Speaking from my heart, it is such a privilege to carry out our mission to improve the lives of lesbians fighting cancer.

Since our last Juno update, we have continued to award grants to women in need. I delivered a grant to an applicant’s home a few weeks ago and she said, “I can’t believe that an organization like Juno is out there.”  She and her partner had been turned away time and time again by other organizations, “we are so blessed to have found Juno.”  If not for YOUR support, this recipient and her partner would still be struggling to find assistance.

Thank YOU for all that you do!  If you know anyone that needs assistance or have questions regarding Juno Foundation Grants, please visit this link or contact me at 407-694-5658 or Tracy Harris .

  J Report

The J Report

I am sitting in sunshine. It’s one of my mother’s favorite places in the house – a small sunroom off our kitchen. A couple of weeks ago I hung a painting of parrots in here. Mother loves it, my partner hates it… and there you have it. So what does this have to do with anything?  Either way, you like it (change) or you don’t. Even life is subjective. I’ve been thinking about this lately, about change not the painting. Thinking about our community and how it is changing depending on your point of view. From where I’m sitting, I believe that Juno and other organizations are really beginning to shine by doing good in the community for the community.
